Some of the things I have been busy with....

Here are some of my friends at one of our cottage sales....You can't see all of our treasures that are in front of them in the yard...I actually put this picture up so you could see some of the things I  have been busy with...I of course could not find a good before picture of the house b/c sadly I forgot to take one...So notice the brown garage doors, unpainted front door, no shutters, and big bushes in front of the house....Some of the things I have been busy with while the hubster is at work and in between the rain showers here in Oregon are...Garage doors now white, black shutters up, front door now black...trim around front door white, three bushes in the front of the house are now pulled out....Did this by myself...it was pouring down rain....tied a rope to one end of the bush and one end to my suburban...put the truck in 4WD, as recommended by my brother who owns his own landscaping business...and pulled them out one at a time....I was covered in mud and I am sure all of the passerby's got a real kick out of me!  The kids thought it was great fun to watch!  Will post more later, just think, wallpaper, ect...that is my next chore...ugh...yes, there were parts of this house that remained un-photographed or shared on this blog, well, because they were still in need of some beautification and at least the process is being started and will be completed shortly in the near future!  Will keep you posted as our progress continues...Chandra

My Kiddos....

One of my close friends Kirsten who is a professional photographer came out to visit in December....She along with our other friend Jenny who is also a professional photographer captured some great shots of my kiddos...I hid around the side, they were much more cooperative for Kirsten and Jenny when mommy was hidden away....They were all smiles when they said smile.....These are two of my favorite...I especially love that you can see my son Trenton who just turned 4 this month is now taller than his sister Nayelie who is 51/2....We are a tall family my husband is 6' 7" and I am 5' 10".....So he is a big guy:)  I need to get the pictures blown up and put on my wall!  I think they turned out wonderful!  For now I will just share them here until I get them printed.....Chandra

I Heart Toile....

I love toile...love it....love it... love it...I love all kinds of toile and color combinations....But especially black and white/creme...Maybe because that is what I seem to find on sale or at Goodwill....or TJ Max...It all started about 7 years ago when I found Waverly Black Toile throw pillows at Big Lots for 4.oo a piece!  I bought 2 then went back the next day and bought another 2...I have washed them and washed them and they have held up!  The chair you see has a toile slipcover I scored at TJ Max...years ago for $10.00...It nicely covers the 70's yellow wing back chair I purchased at Goodwill for $5.00 (It was hideous)....Here and there I have picked up more, always for super cheap...I love it....I love Toile...ha,ha enjoy...Chandra

Bye Bye sweet furniture....I will miss you....

I love fixing up furniture ... I am so excited when someone loves something I have created and wants to purchase it for their own home.  But sometimes, just sometimes I am a little sad....I can get attached to my pieces, I have favorites, and love how some of them turn out....Like the red dresser you will see below, the perfect red, the perfect lines!  The black hutch that was oh soooo hideous before, the black gun cabinet transformed with glass door and toile fabric into a sweet hall tree.  It is so much fun, but sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I could  keep them for a while...and sometimes I do, the ones I won't let go of:)

It Is a Delicate Balance....

It is a delicate balance being a part of shows, sales, ect....  I have two beautiful children ages 4 and 5 1/2...They mean everything to me...I am home with them 5 out of the 7 days of the week and work the other two days as an Early Interventionist (working with birth to 3 year olds with special needs in the home).  My wonderful hubby is home with our kiddos on those two days a week... This past year and a half I have pursued my Shabby to Chic business... Having sales at my home, traveling to shows and being a vendor there...It is a blast, but as I said before a balance....I love the experiences and the fun of shows, but I want to be the best mommy to my kiddos....I may love creating something out of nothing, but it will be nothing if my time is consumed with those "things" and not on the beautiful children God has blessed me with.... I am not trying to be too serious, but it is something that I remind myself of if I feel I am getting too busy.....I am grateful for the new experiences I am having, for the new things I am seeing and learning, but when it comes down to it, my kiddos will always be my number one priority and ohhhh I love them soooo!   Chandra

It is in the details...the little things...

lhjjklj
Old screens, old photos, dollar store topiaries transformed, vintage linens, empty frames...these are a few of my favorite things....It doesn't have to cost a lot to make something look pretty, to create a vingette that is pleasing to the eye...It is in the little details...keeping with the same color and theme,  grouping items that are all the same color but vary in size, shape, and texture...can be so nice to look at...Be creative...change things... try things... move things...I often try a variety of groupings before it looks just right to me... It is fun to play...create vingettes that make you happy, things that have a story, special meaning to you, or things you just love....It doesn't have to look like you took it from a magazine, it needs to look like you ...It is so fun to create a home that is pleasing to your eye....home is a special place, for me a place to create, it is my art palatte,  it is in the details and the little things, all together making your house your home....now lets go create....
Have a shabberific day,  Chandra

She will be a beauty....Look at those lines....

Hi- I am a pretty little loveseat/chair that was sitting on the road for FREE!!!!! I have pretty lines and will be beautiful someday....  I have been chewed on by a dog, have dog hair all over....What did he think I was a chew toy?  I am dingy, but was dry and did not stink too bad...My new owner Mrs. Shabby to Chic happened to be driving along and was stopped dead in her tracks when she saw me...Fortunately the back of her Suburban was empty and there was plenty of room for me to find my home with her....She has big plans for me this spring....She plans to tear off my dingy fabric, paint my wood a cremey white and shabby it up,  She plans to cover me in either large black and creme buffalo check fabric or a nice white or taupe linen fabric....Time will decide....As for me I am glad I no longer get chewed on daily and will now become the pretty lady I was intended to be.........Stay tuned for my trash to treasure Makeover.

Trenton is 4 years old today....

My little guy is 4 years old today....What a sweetie...He had a wonderful birthday party last night with all of his cousins and friends...They had a night full of foam sword and light saber wars, no tears were shed, I think they were all on the same team fighting off the "bad guys."  This little boy has changed a lot this last 4 months and his daddy and I have seen him begin to move into more of a big boy.  He loves pre-school and has been begging to go each day of this Christmas break, he loves swords b/c of the Veggie tales, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, loves football, basketball, and baseball...What a joy he is and I am so grateful that God gave me the honor to raise this guy....Some funny stories more for me to remember as I look back on this throughout the years....All day yesterday he was calling his Pinata we bought him for the party a "yanessa"  not sure why....We corrected him and he continued to call it "Yanessa..."  Until the party that is and we said " Trenton are you ready for the pinata, and we said can you tell everyone it is time for the pinata...(secretly hoping to hear the funny word he had named it, for a smile from everyone)  but he announced  very slowly and deliberatly P.......i.....n......a........t.......a........completely clear....He cracks me up....Happy Birthday my big 4 year old boy!
