So Nayelie and her Best Friend Ruby got the opportunity to model for Lillipops designs in Portland OR....Let me tell you I was beyond excited for her and for me as well:) You See Shannon is a "famous" photographer! Seriously she was recently featured on the Framed show...She has an amazing studio and does tons of commercial work in her photography...She is super creative and it was a dream to watch her work....The amazing this about Shannon was her ability to be so calm and easy-going with the girls which made it a super fun and relaxing shoot for the girls! She even had special treats for each of them:) Nayelie did an awesome job and she had a great time! She was very happy it was nice and warm inside the studio, unlike some other the other shoots she has had to do outside:) Here is her post on her blog featuring the shoot....Just click on the link:)

Strawberry Patch Baby Photoshoot

Nayelie and I set out yesterday for a photoshoot for Strawberry Patch Baby..She makes beautiful Headbands and will be using these images on her website/ facebook for advertising...It was a SUPER windy day but we made the best of it and had a fun time..found some cows along the side of the road that made for a fun backdrop...Nayelie enjoyed mooing at them in between shots...She found it hilarious that they were watching us and kept getting closer trying to check out what we were doing;)

Well I just purchased a professional camera....and had a photo shoot today with my lovely daughter Nayelie....I love the new camera and will be purchasing a new lense to go with it....So I have decided that I will in fact be pursuing a business in photography in addition to my Shabby to Chic designs business...The two work well together actually...I can find wonderful props with all of my antique treasures....I will be putting together price packages and looking at how I want to start out...The prices will be good especially starting out...so let me know if any one out there wants to have a photo shoot.... The Cottage sale went great! A big THANK YOU to all of those who came out to it! I also want to say THANK YOU to my mom for watching the kiddos and my sister for helping me with everything! So I am loving photography...so much so that I am thinking of taking it to the next level and making it a business in addition to my Shabby to Chic designs business....One of my best friends who is a professional photographer is out here from Mass. and is basically giving me a free class in photography....I have just purchased a camera that will meet my needs and am thinking I will take this to the next level....Wish me luck and I will keep you posted....Chandra

Recently we spent some time with friends in Pacific City....a sweet beach town on the Oregon Coast...At a little over an hour from our home it is a wonderful place to retreat to. We had a really perfect time getting 3 days of sunshine....which meant plenty of time to run through the water, discover all the little creatures in the tide pools (and our kids had fast hands catching sand shrimp, little fish, and hermit crabs)...It was one of those vacations you don't want to end because it was so nice...Hope you enjoyed the photos...Till next time, Chandra

Daddy's and Their Baby Girls...

You know there is something very special about the bond a daddy and his little girl have...I understand this personally from being the daughter of a wonderful dad...There is a bond there like none other...something so perfectly sweet...A dad who is close to his daughter provides comfort, support, confidence, and re-assurance...When I think of my father I think of those things...Now being a mother and looking at my daughter with my husband, her daddy, I see such a special bond...He is so tender with her....She seeks him out for lots of hugs and cuddles and if he is hugging me she has to be right in the middle of us...He encourages her and re-assures her...He is teaching her, even if he is not aware, that she deserves to be treated with respect, that she is beautiful just the way God made her, to love herself, and to have the confidence to be a strong young woman someday...this is not something he necessarily says to her in words, but rather in the interactions he has with her....What a blessing to have such a wonderful husband who can give our daughter the blessing of being a wonderful daddy to her and a great example of what she deserves to have in a husband when she becomes a woman someday......Chandra

Tonight as I watched the kiddos talking about their day...laughing...asking sweet and innocent questions...climbing on daddy...rushing over to give me hug...then moving onto the next thing...I looked over at Joe as Trenton said something that made us both laugh...He looked at me and without words we knew what we were both thinking in that moment...They are growing they are getting bigger...they are not babies or toddlers anymore...they have an opinion about things...are questioning life and the things around them...they are growing...It was a sweet moment, exciting and sad all wrapped in one...They are growing into such beautiful little people..but they are growing...As much as I wish to hold onto that moment a little longer...that baby stage a little longer...toddlerhood...a little more...time goes on they change...a new fun stage to experience...but all the same...they are growing....Chandra

The Advantages of Blogging....

You know I didn't anticipate having a blog would be kind of like a journal...I have never been good about putting my thoughts and experiences on paper, but this allows me to create a journal or a snippet of what was happening in my life at that moment...Although, I don't blog everyday and my posts are short...I have photos and memories to share...Whether it is decorating, things happening in my life, or family memories and photos of my kiddos...I can look back on this and remember what life looked like at that time...I am excited to continue on with this so many years from now I can read my "journal" and reminisce about how time has flown by and how little my children were and laugh at the funny moments...Well that is my thought for the night...Looking forward to documenting more of those memories...till then....Chandra

Over Memorial Day weekend we went camping with my family...It was relaxing, fun, and the kids enjoyed themselves immensely....They have reached the age where they can last longer, don't tire as easily, and can participate fully in the activities...They had a great time hanging out with their cousins and I got the opportunity to play with my camera and take lots of photos...I am really enjoying taking pictures, it is another creative outlet....and the last photo is not while camping...I just had to add it because it was a crazy shot I took of a little guys hair standing on end going down the slide...Just had to share...ha, ha....Chandra

Sorry it has been a while since I posted....I have been busy enjoying life....relaxing some....hanging out lots with some lovely new friends....spending lots of time with my kiddos....catching frogs....bike riding...birthday parties...a surprise party I organized for my husband...had to throw in the silly shot of him (he is the one with his head sideways)....time shopping with my sister and mom....In general having a great time...just leaving little time to blog or shabby chicify anything...as summer arrives, I will be showing you some of my new treasures since I will be having a few cottage sales at my home and will be participating in Molly Mo's wonderful sale in August.....Have a great week....Chandra

Here are some before's and after's of some of the furniture I have re-finished (which is quite "green" because I am re-using something that might end up at the dump, taking trash and making it into a treasure)....and then just some pretty vingettes that I have had in my house at one time or another...always changing....but now that our house is on the market things have stayed as they are for a month and half or so...which is really quite amazing for me...as many can attest to who have known me for some time...typically my home would change weekly....moving furniture around...changing vingettes...ect... that is why my cottage sales/ shows/ and helping others shabby chicify (ha,ha) their homes has been good for me...It gives me other creative outlets...Sorry for the rambling tonight ....but here you have it...Chandra

Well....when it comes to patience...I have some....I am patient with my children (most of the time), patient with my hubby (most of the time), but when it comes to projects, and the selling of our house, ugh...I find myself not very patient.....I know I need to just relax, it has only been 3 weeks...but I want to know what the next step will be, where we will end up....Ideas run through my head of what I will do in our next home....I know God has a plan and I need to trust that things will happen when the time is right....We looked at some potential houses this weekend to purchase once our home sells/ if it sells....ha,ha....We saw some rough looking houses but I was having fun visualizing what could be done to them...had to laugh at how some of them were not staged at all...lets just say a pile of 80's adult videos strewn around and a penis cake form pan....right next to them....Now hows that for appeal....We got a good laugh.... I just need to remember Patience....Patience....Patience..... Chandra

An Add Campaign for Diet Pepsi.....

Found this old photo of Trenton today and thought this should have been used for some add campaign to sell Diet Pepsi....ha,ha...although I don't think their target audience is an 18 month old.....don't worry folks it was empty and I was the one who drank it....he just loved cans and I made sure he only held it for a few minutes so he didn't cut himself, all in the name of getting some good photos........Chandra

Board and Batten in our Master Bedroom..........A Redo to cover up wallpaper stuck to the sheetrock....After hours of scraping wallpaper in our Master Bathroom.....I suggested to my hubby that I had an Idea for cover up the one wall in our Master Bedroom that had wallpaper.....Since he did most of the scraping of the wallpaper he was very agree-able and let me do my thing.....I did it completely myself and absolutely love the results, character, and charm it has added to our Master Bedroom! It is amazing to me as I look at my beautiful kiddos how quickly they have grown..... I can't believe that I have a Kindergartener who will be in 1st grade sooner rather than later and a little boy who is now 4 and has almost completed is first year of preschool....I was warned prior to having children to cherish each moment because it goes by too quickly....this is so true......I am trying to remember to live in the moment and enjoy each new stage for when it has passed I know I will wish I could have it back......What blessings they are! My home seems a little bare right now, since I have it staged to sell....These are some photos of before...Lots of white and soft pink....I took out all of my soft pinks to appeal to a wider variety of buyers....and went with my black toile, blck accents, and a soft more neutral blue.........Everything looks crisp and clean and not cluttered....But I do miss all my little goodies.......On a side note....In the bottom picture you see that I have nothing to fear in my home, Transformer boy is here to protect me...found him watching the movie Bolt and wearing this....Just thought it was cute....Chandra

Tonight as I was sitting on the couch blog-surfing....the house was quiet....the kiddos in bed...asleep...I thought.......Then all of a sudden a plastic arrow flew past my head...... and landed across the room. Don't worry it has a suction cup on the end....My little boy who does not normally nap took one today and apparently was having a hard time sleeping....He quietly snuck out of his room and shot one across the living room, he said he was trying to hit the sliding glass door so it would stick.....We both started to giggle and laugh, I told him he almost hit me in the head:)........He cracks me up, now he is back in bed....snug as a bug in a rug:) Chandra

What a week................

Well.........Besides fixing up the house completely, putting it on the market, which costs money......Our little Nissan Sentra broke down....It is a car that we have had since college, paid off for years, and it still keeps going.....We decided paying the $900.00 to fix it was worth not having a car payment for another two years....so we can save up to hopefully by a car outright.......Then we went to the vet..........Our little Sammy dog has been with us for 9 years....unfortunately, he has decided that our daughter's room is a nice place to sneak off to and relieve himself.........This is a behavior not because he has not been let out recently.......and we have tried basically everything to fix it........The carpets have all been freshly cleaned, but if the opportunity lends itself, he takes advantage.......So my husband has reached his breaking point and what do you do? We thought we may have found an older lady who lost her dog a year ago, that was willing to take him on and then he gets this nasty eye infection. I take him to the vet
$ 130.00 later and a bunch of medications, they tell me has abscesses on both eyes and they have never seen a case this bad and they are not sure what caused it..........Then my kids both get the stomach flu and I take him in for a recheck today........they tell me we must now start steroids which increases urination (ugh....) and he must have drops in both eyes 4 times a day and another creme for both eyes because it now appears his eyes are not producing tears another $55.00. One eye is bad and it could rupture, which if it does I am to take him in immediately, if nothing happens I have re-check on Monday, if he is not producing tears, this is a long-term issue and I will have to by medication for him monthly for the rest of his life and he may need to go to a doggie opthamologist if it does not get better......My hubby is working today and I have not even called him with the news. I am now thinking the older lady who was considering Sammy may not want to take this all on.........I love my puppy dog.......... but between the urinating and everything else.........It makes it very difficult! So hard........Sorry this is a bummer of a post, just keeping it real I guess........Feeling a bit overwhelmed, but have been praying that God will help us find a solution and make the best decision..... Chandra

I am up early this AM with my sweet little girl who has the stomach flu.....poor girl!

I am so thankful for my little sweetheart....She is such a kind, giving, loving girl....She plays with her brother for hours.....using lots of barbies, super hero's, and littlest pet shop character's in these elaborate play schemes....She loves Kindergarten, is reading books, loves writing, and loves, I mean loves to draw and create.....wonder where she gets that creative gene from????? She is curious about all things, I love that she dresses herself and often chooses to wear layered skirts or dresses over jeans or leggings...., I love that she can wear her dress-up heals and hold a beetle, squirmy wormy, or frog in the other hand, I love that she can ride her bike down hills and down the bike jumps with her brother but also loves to sing and dance to broadway musicals in the living room with her mama...(ha,ha), you know you would like to see that!.....

I LOVE THIS GIRL!

It is funny how some of my furniture that I think will sell....does not....and then others that I am not sure about fly out the door at the first sale they are shown at....Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason, just the right buyer, looking for something sort of like what I have.....or that person that says,...."oh my goodness I don't really need it but have to have it"....I think that can be the fun of it....Sometimes those pieces that I added a little bit of "punch" to, that are not just white, seem to go quickly....but, then sometimes it is just the simple soft colors that are appealing to my buyers.....Just funny....Here are some shots of some pieces that "flew" out my garage door and some that have just been hanging around looking for the perfect home.... PIECE up above with the toile and pocka dots SOLD FIRST SALE...........

Black piece above an armoire top I added legs to, Sold first sale, creme dresser stuck around for 5 sales before it sold.......Lime green piece with pocka dots again sold first sale??????
Robin's egg blue dresser sold 2nd sale... small white desk to the right with old window attached to it never sold.....I eventually gave it to a friend.... Red desk sold first sale so did the red dresser above....hmmmm.....red is good.....

Well the reason I have not blogged recently is the crazy, busy, long-list of to-do's....BECAUSE....We have decided to put our house on the market....You know those things/projects that you have just not gotten around to... and well after fixing up 3 previous homes, bank repo, flip house, and our rental that used to be a 70's charmer with orange carpet and silver foil wallpaper in the last 5 years.... some rooms just could wait because I did not have the energy or the motivation/creative direction for those spaces yet....But in order to put your house on the market especially in this economy you have to make the house shine....So here is a slideshow.... it shows you some of the bathrooms, which, had wallpaper stripped of them (which took HOURS)...., new tile flooring, newly textured walls, paint, and my pride and joy the board and batten treament I added to the walls in our bedroom...after hours of scraping wall paper in the bathroom, we opted to cover up the rest and I just love how the wall turned out! We also have been adding bark-a-mulch to the yard, removing some blackberry bushes from the creek... which on 1.38 acres takes some/ a lot of time!....planting flowers, got a load of gravel for the driveway, ect.....We shall see if she sells if not, at least everything is done and I can enjoy it....but, I have to say, I am excited for the new adventure and whatever plan God has in store for us.... Salamanders....I love Salamanders....Growing up on a mountain, one of my favorite thing to do as a child was to go to our neighbors pond and catch salamanders! What great little pets for the day, they are nice, don't scratch or bite, and let you carry them around....Well, my kiddos love little creatures, but unfortunately up at my parents house there are no longer many salamanders, so they have not experienced this fun adventure...Until we went with our friends to their land out in the woods....They were all over, literally crawling everywhere....The kiddos would carry around two or three at a time! We had a wonderful day, hiking, catching salamanders, throwing sticks in the pond, and then sitting around a campfire for some yummy s'mores! It was a wonderful day and a much needed break from the projects around this household! We look forward to going back soon....As the kiddos have asked daily after this, "Can we go see the salamanders today? They miss us!" I love those kiddos!

Here are some of my friends at one of our cottage sales....You can't see all of our treasures that are in front of them in the yard...I actually put this picture up so you could see some of the things I have been busy with...I of course could not find a good before picture of the house b/c sadly I forgot to take one...So notice the brown garage doors, unpainted front door, no shutters, and big bushes in front of the house....Some of the things I have been busy with while the hubster is at work and in between the rain showers here in Oregon are...Garage doors now white, black shutters up, front door now black...trim around front door white, three bushes in the front of the house are now pulled out....Did this by myself...it was pouring down rain....tied a rope to one end of the bush and one end to my suburban...put the truck in 4WD, as recommended by my brother who owns his own landscaping business...and pulled them out one at a time....I was covered in mud and I am sure all of the passerby's got a real kick out of me! The kids thought it was great fun to watch! Will post more later, just think, wallpaper, ect...that is my next chore...ugh...yes, there were parts of this house that remained un-photographed or shared on this blog, well, because they were still in need of some beautification and at least the process is being started and will be completed shortly in the near future! Will keep you posted as our progress continues...Chandra

Hello Everyone....

We have lots going on here at the Ferguson Household...I have some news to share with you but will do so later in Feb....as of now I will be posting here and there....Sorry it has taken me some time since my last post....We are all ok, just have to complete some things that will take away my time and energy from my blogging time...Thanks for being understanding...Amy I wanted to say Thank you for the nomination...I have not forgotten about you :) Sorry, I have not had time to respond yet.....Thanks again! My Kiddos....

One of my close friends Kirsten who is a professional photographer came out to visit in December....She along with our other friend Jenny who is also a professional photographer captured some great shots of my kiddos...I hid around the side, they were much more cooperative for Kirsten and Jenny when mommy was hidden away....They were all smiles when they said smile.....These are two of my favorite...I especially love that you can see my son Trenton who just turned 4 this month is now taller than his sister Nayelie who is 51/2....We are a tall family my husband is 6' 7" and I am 5' 10".....So he is a big guy:) I need to get the pictures blown up and put on my wall! I think they turned out wonderful! For now I will just share them here until I get them printed.....Chandra

I Heart Toile....

I love toile...love it....love it... love it...I love all kinds of toile and color combinations....But especially black and white/creme...Maybe because that is what I seem to find on sale or at Goodwill....or TJ Max...It all started about 7 years ago when I found Waverly Black Toile throw pillows at Big Lots for 4.oo a piece! I bought 2 then went back the next day and bought another 2...I have washed them and washed them and they have held up! The chair you see has a toile slipcover I scored at TJ Max...years ago for $10.00...It nicely covers the 70's yellow wing back chair I purchased at Goodwill for $5.00 (It was hideous)....Here and there I have picked up more, always for super cheap...I love it....I love Toile...ha,ha enjoy...Chandra
